Job summary

VHB is seeking a Transportation Systems/Technology Leader to drive planning, design, and construction support for ITS infrastructure across the Mid‑Atlantic. This leadership role emphasizes collaboration, technical depth, and strategic delivery in a hybrid work environment from Virginia or DC offices.

The candidate will oversee ITS/ATMS projects, develop design plans, and lead a team through FHWA processes, balancing client needs with innovative transportation technology and regional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
• 11+ years in ITS/ATMS market with team leadership experience.
• PE license required.
• Willingness to travel and collaborate with local agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide project oversight on ITS/ATMS/Technology projects with clear scoping and viable deliverables.
• Develop design plans and specifications for ITS/ATMS/hardware and communications infrastructure.
• Oversee Systems Engineering documents per FHWA Process; prepare master planning and policy documents.
• Lead staff in fieldwork, testing, and infrastructure verification.
• Write technical reports, memoranda, and updated specifications.
