Job summary

Katy ISD Transportation in Houston, Texas is seeking a Manager - Driver Personnel to oversee bus drivers and attendants, coordinate orientation and training, and ensure on-time, safe transportation of students.

The role reports to the Assistant Director and requires a CDL with endorsements, a Texas TAPT supervisor certification or ability to obtain, and the ability to pass the required physical and drug tests.

Qualifications

• College hours, high school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated ability to interview, counsel, communicate and provide written and oral commands.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with endorsements.
• TAPT supervisor certification or able to obtain.
• Pass annual physical in accordance with state law.
• School Bus Driver Certification or able to obtain within six months of hire date.
• Negative drug/alcohol test results as required by policy and law.
• Able to read and interpret maps and routes.
• Able to climb in/out of school bus emergency exits.
• Working knowledge of District’s street grid.
• Familiar with school bus or medium vehicle operations and maintenance.
• Advanced courses in management theory preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, counsel, and monitor the work activities of drivers, attendants and daycare personnel.
• Assist in observation, reporting and counseling of drivers and attendants on safety and policy.
• Prepare, evaluate and maintain performance records of transportation personnel.
• Resolve problems and complaints from students, citizens and employees.
• Prepare and document routing/scheduling of drivers and attendants to transport students safely and cost-effectively.
• Participate in screening, hiring and training of drivers and attendants per TEA and DOT.
• Supervise and assist in preparation of accident/workers' comp reports, routes and state reports.
• Operate Katy ISD school bus and equipment safely while following laws and policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
