Job Summary

This position provides support to the transportation manager/director in supervising activities related to delivery and backhauls. Responsibilities include training and supervising transportation associates, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and promoting safety and security within the department.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily work and safety of transportation associates, ensuring adherence to SOPs, Food Safety Standards, and planned routes.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA) and maintain accurate electronic logs.
  • Oversee labor hours and supplies within budget; prepare work schedules.
  • Assist in training new and existing associates, including cross-training.
  • Manage company assets, coordinate repairs, and review delivery productivity.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures, including safety and record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and customer service teams to resolve issues.
  • Visit customer locations and address delivery challenges.
  • Maintain positive relations through meetings and open communication.
  • Monitor associate morale and engagement, and work with the safety manager on safety initiatives.
  • Handle staff management functions: hiring, performance reviews, discipline, and termination.
  • Work schedule as assigned, with regular attendance and flexibility for workload demands.
  • Perform related duties as needed.
Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma or GED; college degree in management or related field preferred.
Experience
  • 2-4 years in transportation or related training.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Food delivery experience is a plus.
Certificates & Licenses
  • Class A or B CDL preferred but not required.
  • DOT regulations training certificate preferred.
Professional Skills
  • Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT regulations, SOPs, and software tools.
  • Decision-making, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and learn company software.
  • Proficiency in English, basic math, and technical reading/writing.
Physical Demands
  • Sit, talk, hear; stand, walk, bend; lift up to 100 lbs., push/pull up to 350 lbs.
  • Visual abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
Work Environment
  • Occasional exposure to various environmental conditions and mechanical hazards.
  • Non-traditional hours, travel as needed, and moderate noise levels.
