Job summary

Majestic Steel USA is seeking a Transportation Scheduling Specialist II to independently coordinate transportation execution, build carrier relationships, and secure competitive rates across TL/LTL, flatbed, and specialized freight.

You will serve as a bridge between our Service Centers, Sales team, and carriers to keep freight moving on time, resolve discrepancies, and drive cost efficiency while ensuring outstanding customer service. Hybrid work arrangement in our Ohio office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
• Working knowledge of TMS and load board platforms (DAT, Truckstop.com, or equivalent).
• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Clear, confident communicator who builds relationships with internal teams, carriers, and partners.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills; identify trends and discrepancies while securing rates and capacity.
• Knowledge of freight modes and equipment relevant to steel distribution.
• Highly organized and self-directed with tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Secure rates and carrier capacity across TL, LTL, flatbed, and specialized lanes.
• Recruit, evaluate, and onboard asset-based carriers to strengthen capacity.
• Manage load entry, status updates, and documentation within TMS; resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate flatbed, coil, and specialized freight; confirm equipment, load securement, and permits.
• Negotiate rates and service agreements using market knowledge and load board data.
• Partner with Sales and Operations to communicate load status, delivery timelines, and changes.
• Verify freight invoices and monitor carrier compliance with DOT regulations.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

What You'll Do:

• Secure competitive transportation rates and carrier capacity across TL, LTL, flatbed, and specialized equipment lanes
• Recruit, evaluate, and onboard asset-based carriers to strengthen capacity across existing and emerging transportation lanes
• Manage load entry, status updates, and documentation within TMS and tracking systems, proactively resolve discrepancies
• Coordinate flatbed, coil, and specialized freight, confirming equipment, load securement, and permitting requirements
• Negotiate rates and service agreements using market knowledge and load board data to achieve favorable terms
• Partner with Sales and Operations to proactively communicate load status, delivery timelines, changes, and solutions to transportation issues
• Verify freight invoices, resolve billing discrepancies, and monitor carrier compliance with company policies, DOT regulations, and qualification standards
• Other job-related duties and special projects as assigned

Who We're Looking For:

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Three (3) years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations, with demonstrated growth in knowledge, skill, performance, and responsibility
• Possess working knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) and load board platforms (DAT, Truckstop.com, or equivalent)

Technical Proficiency:

Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and Windows-based applications.

Skills:

• Clear, confident communicator who builds productive relationships with internal teams, carriers, and other external partners.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to identify trends and discrepancies while securing competitive rates and capacity.
• Working knowledge of freight modes and equipment requirements relevant to steel and metals distribution.
• Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage high-volume communications, competing deadlines, and time-sensitive assignments.
• Customer-focused and collaborative, with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to resolve issues independently.

What Makes You Stand Out:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
• Three (3) years of brokerage or carrier development experience, including familiarity with brokerage tools and platforms
• Direct experience coordinating flatbed, coil, or heavy-haul freight, including familiarity with oversize/overweight permitting
• Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance standards, Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, and carrier qualification requirements
