Job summary

Zūm is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead safety operations at our Howard County, MD location. This role covers the full safety lifecycle from program development and training to incident management and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in safety management within transportation: school bus or passenger transport preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of FMCSA regulations, state pupil transportation laws, OSHA/DOT standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead Safety Culture & Training initiatives and develop comprehensive training programs for transportation staff.
• Ensure compliance with FMCSA, state laws, OSHA/DOT; maintain meticulous safety records and audit-ready files.
• Oversee safety department staff and coordinate recruitment, staffing, and certifications.
• Lead investigations of incidents using root-cause analysis and coordinate with insurers until resolution.
