Job summary

Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, FL is seeking a Transportation Safety Analyst to assist management in monitoring transportation operations, uphold safety, and develop action plans to address deficiencies across the district's bus fleet.

The role conducts safety investigations, prepares reports, trains new bus operators, and coordinates safety-related activities with the Transportation Safety and Training Department, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Five years of experience in school bus or public transit is required.
• CDL Class B license with passenger and school bus endorsements (or must obtain within six months) and maintain it throughout tenure.
• Three years in safety and accident investigation in school or public transportation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, courteous, and empathetic manner, representing OCPS positively.
• Oversees safety and accident investigations on district property, including district-owned vehicles on the road.
• Develops plans with Senior Operations, Training, Safety, and other staff and identifies expected outcomes for Transportation Department.
• Captures photographs, video footage, and reports for investigations and drafts investigation reports.
• Conducts weekly vehicle inspections for cleanliness and damage.
• Trains and tests new bus operators in all phases of commercial driver licensure.
• Prepares materials for presentations by safety and training teams.
• Responds to questions about transportation policies and management directives; serves on committees as assigned.
• Responds to research requests from the public as assigned by supervisor.
• Trains employees on safety issues prescribed by OCPS, FDOE, OSHA, and relevant agencies.
• Analyzes reports and documents as directed by senior safety leadership.
• Generates weekly, quarterly, and annual analytical reports for senior management and Safety and Training managers.
• Maintains radio communication while on duty and identifies hazards with corrective measures.
• Investigates mishaps and collaborates on plans to correct physical hazards.
• Coordinates safety-related deficiencies with Transportation Safety and Training Department.
• Keeps Senior Administrator and managers informed of critical issues and incidents.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding transportation issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Transportation Safety Manager.
• Keeps current on technology used by OCPS and attends training to maintain skills.
• Keeps timely and accurate information in job responsibilities.
