Job summary

OCTA in Orange County is seeking a Transportation Analyst or Senior Transportation Analyst to support ITS and traffic signal operations, Transit Signal Priority, and associated technologies. You will coordinate with cities, Caltrans, and partners to plan, design, and implement improvements that enhance transit performance and multimodal mobility.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field plus transportation experience; strong analytics, communication, and project coordination

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, transportation engineering, civil engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to evaluate transportation and operational data
• Ability to develop technical reports, performance measures, analyses, and recommendations
• Strong project coordination and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
• Experience with ITS, traffic signal operations, Transit Signal Priority (TSP), or transportation data analysis is desirable

Responsibilities

• Support and manage traffic signal operations and ITS projects including Transit Signal Priority
• Assist with planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of signal and ITS improvements
• Coordinate with OC Streetcar traffic signal and TSP efforts with local jurisdictions
• Analyze traffic data to identify needs, evaluate performance, and recommend improvements
• Develop analyses, performance measures, and recommendations for operations and technology investments
• Identify opportunities to expand Transit Signal Priority and other signals across Orange County
• Investigate and resolve signal operations and integration issues
• Evaluate emerging transportation technologies and standards for OC applications
• Participate in consultant procurements and development of scopes, costs, and evaluations
• Manage or support consultant contracts and monitor performance
• Coordinate with cities, Caltrans, agencies, and vendors on initiatives
• Support long-range strategies for traffic and ITS operations
• Represent OCTA on technical committees and public meetings
• Build consensus among stakeholders on operational needs and requirements
