Job summary

GTS Transportation Inc. is seeking a motivated Safety Specialist to promote a safe work environment and ensure regulatory compliance. This in-office role focuses on audits, incident investigations, and driver safety management to support daily operations.

You will coordinate driver training, monitor HOS/ELD compliance, and maintain safety records while tracking metrics to identify trends and drive continual improvement. Join a growing Chicagoland carrier with strong safety commitments.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA standards and regulatory requirements.
• Strong organizational and time management in a fast-paced logistics setting.
• Experience with driver safety management and compliance monitoring preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure regulatory compliance with DOT, OSHA, FMCSA and company safety rules.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments for drivers, vehicles and facilities.
• Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
• Maintain driver qualification files and safety records.
• Coordinate driver safety training and onboarding programs.
• Monitor hours of service (HOS) and ELD compliance for drivers.
• Communicate safety procedures and policy updates to drivers and management.
• Assist in developing and implementing company safety programs and procedures.
• Track safety metrics, violations and trends using computerized systems and Excel.
• Collaborate with dispatch, operations and management to improve workplace safety.
