Job summary

FreshDirect is seeking a Transportation Safety Manager to lead EHS for our transportation and fleet operations in New York. You will guide safety programs, DOT/FMCSA compliance, driver safety, accident prevention, and telematics administration, partnering with leadership to advance safety performance.

The role emphasizes data-driven safety improvements, policy development, and cross-functional collaboration across the logistics and operations teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field; 3+ years of transportation safety experience.
• OSHA, DOT/FMCSA knowledge and Drug & Alcohol program experience preferred.
• Experience with safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
• Using safety data, KPIs and trend analysis to identify risk and drive improvement.
• Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Support transportation EHS initiatives through audits, inspections and risk assessments across fleet operations.
• Review and improve safety policies; maintain records and regulatory documentation.
• Investigate vehicle accidents, injuries and near misses; support driver safety programs and coaching.
