Job summary

Day & Ross in Portland, OR is seeking a Transportation Safety and Compliance Specialist to advance our safety program. You will identify unsafe habits, coordinate training, and ensure compliance with FMCSR/OSHA across our U.S. operations.

You’ll accompany drivers for observed compliance, lead investigations, and support audits of assets and vendor practices. The role requires strong communication, classroom training skills, and willingness to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in safety & compliance within transportation.
• Experience with DOT (FMCSA), OSHA and EPA.
• Class A CDL driving experience preferred.
• Knowledge of FMCSR & OSHA standards.
• Ability to train and coach drivers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations (FMCSR, OSHA).
• Observe drivers to ensure DOT compliance and safety.
• Assist with safety training material distribution.
• Lead accident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Perform safety audits and inspections of assets and vendors.
• Collaborate with safety team on SMS implementation.
• Travel up to 50% as required.
