Job summary

Community Unit School District 308 in Illinois is seeking a Transportation Operations Router to ensure safe, efficient bus routes and outstanding customer service. The role reports to Transportation leadership and supports daily routing, scheduling, and communications with stakeholders.

The position requires five years in pupil transportation, a CDL and background check clearance, and the ability to work a variable schedule. Extensive Microsoft Office and Versa Trans experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Age 21 or older.
• Minimum of five years of experience in the pupil transportation industry.
• Three years of experience using advanced features in Microsoft Office and Versa Trans Routing & Scheduling preferred.
• Strong understanding of safe, effective and efficient techniques in all aspects of bus routing.
• Demonstrated commitment to high professional standards.
• Ability to make sound, accurate, and timely decisions; and to understand the implications of those decisions.
• Ability to work a variable schedule.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL License and School Bus Driver Permit to assist with routes as needed.
• Ability to excel in a fast paced environment.
• Successful completion of the District's required medical and background check.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and perform daily operations of computer routing, scheduling, and documented reporting and related services.
• Coordinate employee route and field trip selection procedures and postings.
• Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders to provide exceptional customer service.
• Maintain and track the most current information regarding sexual predators and sexual offenders and route bus stops accordingly.
• Coordinate transportation of McKinney/Vento students in coordination with student services via shared agreement with school districts & parents.
• Process receivables and payables for McKinney/Vento students.
• Drives bus routes as required and determined by management.
• Performs daily dispatcher duties as needed.
• Prepares and maintains route files, maps, and records for District programs.
• Assumes on-call status for night and weekend activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

SALARY RANGE: $55,000 - $75,000

General Description

Under the direction of the Director of Transportation and/or their designee, the Transportation Operations Router is primarily responsible for ensuring school bus routes are prepared to be safe, effective, and efficient while providing optimal customer service.
