Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Engineer Specialist to lead QA/QC inspection and oversee highway and structure projects across the state. The role requires an active P.E.

license and ABET-accredited degree, with eight+ years of civil engineering experience, including bridge and tunnel inspection duties per federal/state standards. Preference for four+ years of post-licensure leadership in complex design/construction management.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer in WV or with comity within 6 months of hire.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, or related ABET-accredited program.
• Eight+ years of progressive civil engineering experience.
• Post-licensure experience in complex design/construction management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, construct, maintain and operate highways and related facilities and structures.
• Serve as Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspection Section Head and make engineering decisions within policy.
• Perform bridge and tunnel inspection duties per 23 CFR requirements and state objectives.
• Work statewide with the Operations Division to meet project goals and objectives.
