Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a qualified professional to manage roadway construction projects on behalf of the department. You will supervise inspectors, ensure compliance with plans and specifications, and coordinate resolutions of deficiencies with contractors.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Construction Science or equivalent and a valid driver's license. Travel and field work are expected, with potential outdoor/weather-related challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• A motor vehicle operator’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs project management and supervisory duties related to roadway construction projects.
• Ensures work complies with plans, specifications and standards.
• Notifies Contractor and RCE of deficiencies and verifies resolution.
• Ensures inspection/testing requirements are met by qualified inspectors.
• Prepares closeout documents and acts as department representative with contractors and the public.
