Job summary

State of South Carolina's Department of Transportation seeks an experienced engineering manager to oversee highway and bridge construction projects across Interstate, primary, and secondary routes. You will direct survey crews, inspection teams, project managers, and office staff, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and at least five years of engineering or construction management experience; travel may be required,

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and five (5) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Responsibilities

• Oversees engineering, technical, and administrative functions for highway/bridge construction projects.
• Directs survey crews, inspection teams, project managers and office staff; includes personnel selection and hiring.
• Ensures inspections and surveys are performed accurately by qualified personnel.
• Monitors project budgets, fuel, paper usage, and operating costs to reduce expenses.
• Ensures timely submission of reports and final construction plans; maintains records for compliance.
