Job summary

Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) seeks a Transportation Engineering Specialist to review, develop, and deliver the department's construction program from planning through completion. The role coordinates field reviews, gathers data, prepares estimates, and attends stakeholder meetings while ensuring compliance with ADOT standards.

The position reports as the district contact for construction projects, coordinating staff and acting as a representative in the absence of the District

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles for state highway development and maintenance.
• Familiarity with federal/state statutes, agency standards, and ADOT-related procedures.
• Knowledge of ADOT design standards and roadway design guidelines (AASHTO/ADOT).
• Understanding of highway construction methods, drainage, traffic engineering, and related specs.

Responsibilities

• Review, develop, and deliver the Department's construction program; manage field reviews, data gathering, plans review, specs, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate and attend stakeholder and project meetings; prepare written documents and analyses; track full project life-cycle.
• Serve as district point of contact for construction projects and coordinate staff and project needs; act as district representative in absence of District Engineer.
• Support winter weather emergencies and incidental duties; communicate road conditions to appropriate departments; assist in traffic control during incidents.
