Job summary

Buchart Horn in Pittsburgh is seeking a Civil Engineer with 3+ years in transportation to advance toward a Project Manager role while deepening technical expertise.

You will support the design and delivery of transportation and infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on experience in coordination, client communications, and project execution, working with senior leaders to fast-track progression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• EIT certification required.
• 3+ years of experience in transportation or civil engineering.
• Actively pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• Proficiency in MicroStation and Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of state DOT design standards and AASHTO guidelines.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams.

Responsibilities

• Learn from experienced Project Managers.
• Develop Project Management skills such as scope, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Perform engineering calculations for roadway and transportation projects.
• Develop plans, profiles, and design drawings using MicroStation.
• Work with Project Managers in day-to-day project execution and client communication.
• Participate in client and internal meetings to support planning and delivery.
• Respond to RFIs, review submittals, edit specifications, and contribute to cost estimates.
• Conduct site visits, field reviews, and assist with construction-phase services.
• Participate in QA/QC reviews to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
• Support proposal development with the Business Development Unit.
• Fast track learning to increase responsibility for project components and coordination.
