Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking Planning students to join our Rockville, Maryland office on the Transit team. This is not a remote position and you will gain hands-on experience across a variety of projects in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

Contribute to pre-construction planning, permitting, and analysis while learning federal, state, and local regulations and Kimley-Horn’s standards. This internship offers exposure to multiple agencies and the chance to help shape development proposals

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Planning Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, or related major.

Responsibilities

• Support pre-construction planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects.
• Assist project managers and collaborate across disciplines to realize client visions for the future built environment.
• Learn federal, state, and local regulations and Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Evaluate development proposals for zoning compliance.
• Prepare planning and land use studies.
• Coordinate with municipal and state agencies.

• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Evaluate development proposals to identify compliance with zoning regulations.
• Prepare planning and land use studies.
• Coordinate with various municipal and state agencies.

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving a Planning Degree (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited program in of the following majors:
• City and Regional Planning
• Urban Planning
• Transportation Planning
• Or Other Related Major
