Job summary

OTHON in Austin, TX is seeking a Transportation Planner/Engineer to support TxDOT, MPOs, cities, and counties with planning studies, corridor and mobility planning, evacuation and safety analyses, traffic forecasting, and GIS‑based data analysis for client projects.

A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and Microsoft Office, strong analytical writing, and the ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation or Civil Engineering, Urban/Regional Planning, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
• Working proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, including data creation and editing, attribute management, symbology, and map layouts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments under deadlines and communicate progress proactively.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic forecasting, traffic operations analysis, travel demand modeling, and evaluation of alternatives.
• Support planning studies including corridor and mobility studies, transit planning, evacuation route planning, and safety analyses.
• Build, edit, and analyze geospatial data in ArcGIS Pro, and produce maps, exhibits, and web/field map applications for project teams and clients.
• Collect, compile, and analyze transportation, traffic, safety, and demographic data, documenting sources and QC steps.
• Prepare technical memoranda, reports, tables, graphics, and presentations meeting TxDOT and client standards.
• Coordinate with project managers and other disciplines; track assignments and raise issues early.
• Participate in project and client meetings and document findings and recommendations.
