Job summary

THON Engineering seeks a full-time, on-site Transportation Planner/Engineer for our Austin, TX office. You will support planning studies for TxDOT, MPOs, cities, and counties, including corridor planning, evacuation and safety analyses, and traffic forecasting.

The role requires analytical, detail-oriented work with GIS data, maps, and client deliverables. A master’s degree is preferred; strong communication and data-analysis skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Transportation or Civil Engineering, Urban/Regional Planning, Transportation Planning or related field.
• Master's degree preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu.
• Working proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, including data creation/editing and map layouts.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic forecasting, operations analysis, and travel demand modeling.
• Support corridor and mobility planning studies and safety analyses.
• Build and analyze geospatial data in ArcGIS Pro and produce maps/exhibits for teams and clients.
• Collect, analyze transportation, traffic, safety, and demographic data with QC steps.
• Prepare technical memoranda, reports, tables, graphics, and presentations.
• Coordinate with project managers and other disciplines; track progress against schedule.
• Participate in project meetings and document findings and recommendations.
