Job summary

Expeditors in Ellenwood, MD is seeking a Transportation Operations Specialist to manage standard workflows and ensure smooth logistics operations. You will focus on issue resolution, operational execution, and improving carrier and service provider performance. A Bachelor's degree and 2–4 years in logistics are expected.

You will coordinate with customers, 3PLs, carriers, and warehouses to meet KPIs, analyze data for improvements, and resolve bottlenecks while maintaining high service levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience.
• 2–4 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, and/or transportation.
• Solid experience with ERP, TMS and WMS systems.
• Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
• Effective communication, negotiation, and issue-resolution skills.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Execute standard operational workflows to manage the flow of goods and materials toward KPIs/OKRs (e.g., OTIF).
• Identify and resolve operational issues impacting customer satisfaction.
• Arrange transportation considering cost, transit time, and mode; handle escalations.
• Drive carrier and service provider performance for Hub and Spoke locations.
• Execute transportation management for inbound/outbound and capacity management.
• Provide data analytics to improve transportation operational efficiency at assigned locations.
• Coordinate with multiple parties to resolve delivery issues and implement corrective actions.
• Serve as primary contact for internal departments, vendors, and customers on logistics inquiries.
• Ensure SOPs are followed between warehouse vendors and carriers.
• Support domestic and international shipments; ensure partner carriers meet critical shipment requirements.
• Monitor inbound/outbound deliveries and resolve bottlenecks in shipping/receiving.
