The Agency of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Operations Technician II. This position is responsible for highway maintenance tasks such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more. During winter months, the role includes plowing and salting, and overtime may be required. The position may also involve vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Work requires exposure to extreme outdoor weather, considerable overtime during snow or emergencies, and working near heavy equipment and hazardous materials. Participation in a drug and alcohol testing program is mandatory. Overtime, especially in winter, is a condition of employment.
High School diploma or equivalent AND one year of experience in construction, equipment operation, or manual labor, including one season operating a snowplow with wings or six months operating medium/heavy equipment.
OR
Successful completion of probation as a Transportation Operations Technician I AND possession of a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.
A Class B CDL is required. Incumbent must live near the worksite. A Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement must be obtained within six months. All required coursework must be completed within one year or enrollment must be maintained. Non-probationary employees must obtain the CDL within six months of employment.
