Job summary

ARMY TRANSPORTATION is seeking a capable professional to assist the Chief of Terminal Operations Division in Jacksonville, FL. The role includes acting as Division Chief when needed and overseeing cargo movement through military or commercial transport systems.

You will coordinate with military and civilian agencies, contractors, and carriers, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations and facilitating terminal operations.

Qualifications

  • Specialized experience required: planning, coordinating, and monitoring cargo movement through transportation systems.
  • Experience applying transportation regulations and coordinating with military, civilian agencies, contractors, and carriers.
  • HAZMAT compliance and oversight experience or equivalent.
  • Graduate study in fields related to transportation and logistics may substitute for experience under certain conditions.

  • Advance cargo movement planning and monitoring within military or commercial transportation systems.
  • Coordinate with military, civilian agencies, contractors and carriers to support terminal operations.

Education

Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or related fields

About the Position

In this position, applicant will directly assist the Chief of Terminal Operations Division in his/her duties and serves as Division Chief in the absence of the incumbent. This position is located at Jacksonville, Florida.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) planning, coordinating, and monitoring cargo movement through military or commercial transportation systems; 2) applying transportation regulations and coordinating with military, civilian agencies, contractors, and commercial carriers; 4) supporting terminal operations, logistics planning, contract oversight, or HAZMAT compliance; and 5) using automated transportation or logistics systems to manage cargo, prepare reports, and support mission operations.


OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.


OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.


Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
