Job summary

SEPTA seeks a Transportation Service Manager to oversee administrative and operational activities for Surface Transportation. You will supervise service performance, investigate accidents, address customer concerns, and ensure accessibility for all passengers.

You will conduct reports, communicate during disruptions, coordinate with the Assistant Director of Transportation, and lead safety initiatives while managing staff across multiple reporting locations.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree, three years of mass transportation industry experience, and two years of managerial experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements.
• Clean driving record in the last 3 years.
• If offered the position after interview, candidates must attend company-paid CDL training.
• No CDL or Permit - you will be required to obtain a CDL permit (Class B preferred) before start date.
• Proficiency in basic mathematical computation and writing skills; a test will be administered.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Experience working in a Union environment.
• Must be able to work day or night shifts, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Manages service, including accident prevention and on-time performance and headways, investigates and addresses customer complaints and concerns, promotes accessibility for passengers with disabilities.
• Troubleshoots/corrects and completes necessary reports for minor mechanical vehicular problems to maintain service.
• Completes appropriate reports to Assistant Director of Transportation re: procedures, violations of rules, and recommends corrective action.
• Communicates with the public to resolve complaints during service disruptions and provides route/service information.
• Prepares reports using a tablet and recommends corrective actions with the Assistant Director of Transportation.
• Performs immediate and thorough accident investigations and employee injury investigations; interviews as required and submits reports.
• Maintains rapport with area businesses, government agencies, customers and the general public.
• Ensures fair treatment and equal opportunity for all employees in the department.
• Complies with safety policies and reports hazards; promotes safety among staff.
• Capable of learning emerging technologies adopted for Transportation Managers in Service Supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
