Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Manager, Transportation to lead a team of drivers and transportation associates, ensuring safe, accurate and timely outbound shipments to customers and distribution centers. You will coach staff, manage performance, and drive cost-effective operations while upholding US Foods values.

The role requires 3+ years in transportation or warehouse roles, 1+ year of supervisor experience, and knowledge of DOT regulations; a college degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution.
• Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce.
• Experience as a driver is a plus.
• Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
• Strong understanding of DOT requirements. Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
• Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Lead with a safety mindset to ensure injury-free operations for associates, customers, and the public.
• Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through coaching and policy training.
• Discuss performance with Sr. Transportation Managers and create improvement plans.
• Foster upward communication and motivate the team to meet department goals.
• Direct and supervise work and productivity of drivers and clerical staff; drive engagement and retention.
• Participate in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel and set performance targets.
• Monitor production goals, anticipate and troubleshoot delivery problems, and ensure DOT compliance.
• Identify waste and improve processes for safer, more efficient operations.
• Conduct routine Safety and Driver Meetings.
