Job summary

Simon & Schuster is seeking a Transportation Manager to lead high-volume distribution operations. You will work with the Shipping Manager and Leadership Team to meet daily goals, coach teams, and optimize transportation execution.

The role requires an experienced leader with strong communication and analytical abilities to drive continuous improvement and ensure regulatory compliance. Work schedule is 7:30am-4:00pm, with a focus on service excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of transportation, logistics, supply chain, or distribution leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of carrier management, freight operations, scheduling, and transportation planning.
• Experience with TMS, WMS, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop transportation personnel.
• Manage carrier relationships, freight scheduling, routing, load planning, and shipment execution.
• Partner with Shipping Manager and Operations Leadership Team to achieve daily goals.
• Monitor operational reports, transportation dashboards, and performance data.
• Ensure accurate and timely confirmation of all orders, shipments, and transactions.
• Maintain transportation schedules and ensure pickups, deliveries, and appointments are executed as planned.
• Analyze data and metrics to identify trends and drive improvement.
• Resolve transportation issues, delays, and service disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and transportation regulations.
