Job summary

Simon & Schuster is seeking a Transportation Manager to lead transportation operations in a high-volume distribution environment. You will work with the Shipping Manager and Operations Leadership Team to meet daily shipping, transportation, and customer service goals.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in transportation leadership, strong carrier management, and proficiency with TMS/WMS. This role emphasizes data-driven decisions, coaching, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of transportation, logistics, supply chain, or distribution leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of carrier management, freight operations, scheduling, and transportation planning.
• Experience with TMS, WMS, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop transportation personnel.
• Manage carrier relationships, freight scheduling, routing, load planning, and shipment execution.
• Partner with Shipping Manager and leadership to meet daily goals.
• Monitor operational reports, transportation dashboards, and performance data.
• Ensure accurate and timely confirmation of orders, shipments, and transactions.
• Maintain transportation schedules and ensure pickups, deliveries, & appointments are executed.
• Analyze data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Resolve transportation issues, delays, and service disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and transportation regulations.
