Job summary

Kroger in Memphis, TN is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to assist in overseeing daily operations of the transportation department. You will supervise hourly associates, maintain on-time deliveries, and collaborate with other departments to coordinate schedules and carrier programs that reduce costs while improving safety and customer service.

You will also design process improvements, monitor route performance, and manage backhauls in alignment with ORAD compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED must have been completed.
• 2+ years of experience in Transportation, Distribution or Manufacturing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong understanding of DOT compliance laws.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to coach and train others and collaborate in a team-based setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop a team of non-exempt associates in daily operations.
• Maintain on-time deliveries with a Full, Fresh and Friendly mindset.
• Collaborate with other departments to coordinate schedules and deliveries.
• Follow programs to identify and address transportation opportunities promptly.
• Assist in identifying technology and procedural solutions to increase productivity.
• Support problem solving with supervisors to schedule deliveries and back hauls.
• Communicate with stores to resolve delivery problems.
• Maintain records of mileage, fuel, repairs and other expenses.
• Track trailers using Orbcomm technology.
• Establish delivery routes and manage related expenses.
• Execute the backhaul program with ORAD compliance.
• Communicate activities to align business, people and safety metrics.
• Maintain professionalism and a positive work environment.
• Facilitate workforce communication through meetings and huddles.
• Supervise and coach direct reports; perform performance reviews and provide feedback.
