Job summary

UNFI is hiring a Transportation Supervisor in Riverside, CA to assist management in supervising drivers and staff of the Transportation Department. You will implement schedules, departure times, and daily functions, ensuring coordination with customers and internal departments for efficient operations.

The role emphasizes leadership, regulatory compliance, and coordination with Warehouse and store personnel to meet delivery timelines.

Qualifications

• Experience and/or training in transportation, preferably with the Company or in grocery industry.
• Class A CDL; preferred.
• Knowledge of material handling equipment and traffic management including truck and rail.
• Good knowledge of transportation regulations and DOT guidelines.
• Ability to motivate and supervise others; strong leadership.
• Effective verbal and written communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Access.
• Analytical skills for administrative duties and safety-focused execution.
• Sound judgment for supervision without constant oversight.

Responsibilities

• Routes and schedules loads for distribution efficiently using personnel and equipment.
• Ensures merchandise is delivered in optimal condition.
• Coordinates with Warehouse to align delivery timing.
• Assigns drivers to loads ensuring compliance with company and DOT guidelines.
• Maintains good public relations with store management via calls and visits.
• Works with store personnel on special requests.
• Ensures compliance with laws and regulations by drivers and staff.
• Processes weekly/monthly DOT mileage reports.
• Performs driver road tests, training and qualifications.
• Other duties as assigned.
