Job summary

Gordon Food Service in Houston, TX is looking for an Assistant Transportation Manager to help ensure the efficient and economical delivery of products to restaurants, schools and healthcare facilities.

You will lead driver meetings, mentor staff, assist in hiring and training, balance routes, manage dispatch, ensure DOT/OSHA compliance, and cover routes during vacations. A Class A CDL and experience in transportation are preferred. This role offers strong growth as part of a values-driven team.

Qualifications

• At least 2–3 years of transportation experience and/or equivalent education.
• Class A CDL with CDL-T preferred; DOT/OSHA knowledge required.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English; pass a drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead driver meetings, mentoring, and training; coach for safety and efficiency.
• Oversee route balancing, dispatch, and backhaul scheduling.
• Ensure DOT, Federal, State, and local regulations compliance; coverage during vacations.
