Job summary

Town of Mount Pleasant is seeking an experienced transportation engineering professional to lead its traffic and transportation operations. The Transportation Operations Division Chief manages the Town’s traffic signal system, transportation studies, infrastructure programs, and capital projects while supervising professional and technical staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with five years of transportation or traffic engineering experience or equivalent
• PE license required
• professional traffic operations engineer certification or ability to obtain within two years
• Road Safety Professional Level 1 certification or ability to obtain within two years
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic and transportation operations and supervise staff
• Manage traffic signal system, studies, infrastructure programs, and capital projects
• Coordinate with leadership, officials, residents, developers, consultants, contractors, and partner agencies
• Oversee traffic operations, development-plan reviews, traffic calming, pedestrian and bicycle improvements, and budget management
• Present to Transportation Committee and Town Council
