Job summary

Michigan Department of Corrections seeks a Departmental Technician to coordinate transportation logistics for the Muskegon, St. Louis and Ionia regions.

You will develop daily assignment schedules and guide transportation cadres while ensuring accuracy and accountability in medication package sorting at the Transportation HUB. You will answer inquiries by phone or email, maintain HUB worksheets and audit tools, and assist in training new schedulers.

Qualifications

• Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
• Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
• Knowledge of computer programs, databases and data tracking methods.
• Ability to understand and utilize policies, procedures and collective bargaining agreements.
• Ability to communicate with staff and supervisors to accomplish goals.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Transportation logistics to manage services efficiently.
• Oversee daily transportation assignment schedule for Muskegon, St. Louis and Ionia cadres.
• Explain work instructions and propose revisions to meet needs.
• Answer inquiries by phone or email regarding transportation policies.
• Reconcile and sort medication packages for Transportation at HUB days.
• Maintain HUB worksheet for tracking resources and accuracy.
• Coordinate and conduct orientation for new schedulers.
• Compile, review, and monitor financial, statistical, and program data.
• Coordinate and schedule vehicle maintenance and monitor staff training.
• Develop audit tools related to Transportation Operations.
• Create and maintain spreadsheets for tracking resources.
• Perform related work as assigned.
