Douglas County School System seeks a skilled automotive technician to service and repair its fleet of school vehicles, ensuring safe operation and efficiency. The role includes preventive maintenance, repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics, and coordinating with drivers.
CDL with P/S endorsements is required or obtained upon training. On-call availability is expected for emergencies and routine work order follow-ups.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To service and perform repairs to school system vehicles to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently.
PAY GRADE: Classified Salary Schedule - 231 Day- Grade 8 - Salary Range: $35,985.00 to $58,155.00. Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified relevant experience.
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 231 Days (12 Months)
REPORT TO: Fleet Manager
EDUCATION LEVEL: High School graduate or GED preferred or equivalent experience and/or training.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Georgia CDL license (P and S Endorsements), or must be obtained at first training opportunity. Must pass an initial drug (alcohol) screening. Must pass a pre-employment screening, including an HPE (Health Performance Evaluation).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
PROFICIENT SKILLS: Completion of a two year mechanic training program or equal experience.
