Job summary

Blue Bridge People is seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to lead shipping and receiving operations in a manufacturing environment. This hands-on leadership role manages eight hourly employees and oversees domestic and international transportation, freight management, and logistics for high-value capital equipment.

Responsibilities include negotiating carrier rates, reviewing freight invoices, ensuring on-time shipments, and ensuring compliance with import/export regulations.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, distribution, or shipping within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading or supervising hourly employees in a warehouse, shipping, or distribution setting.
• Strong knowledge of domestic and international transportation, freight management, import/export processes, and DOT regulations.
• Experience negotiating carrier rates and managing freight costs.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Shipping & Receiving employees.
• Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring on-time movement of materials and equipment.
• Coordinate domestic and international shipments to customers, suppliers, and other locations.
• Negotiate transportation rates and manage carrier relationships.
• Review freight invoices, resolve billing discrepancies, monitor costs and budgets.
• Partner with suppliers, manufacturing, and sales to meet schedules and requirements.
• Manage import/export shipments, customs documentation, duties, and compliance.
• Oversee packaging, documentation, and shipping procedures for large equipment.
• Develop and maintain SOPs for shipping and receiving activities.
