Job summary

River City Produce is seeking a Transportation Manager to oversee all transportation activities, including route delivery, dispatching, and compliance with DOT regulations. The role leads the regional driver team and collaborates with the shipping, fleet mechanics, and HR teams.

The Transportation Manager will report to Company Officers and must be familiar with DOT standards, safety meetings, and DOT audits, while delivering excellent service to customers and vendors.

Qualifications

• Must have current Class A CDL with proof of medical examiner’s certificate in accordance with DOT regulations.
• At least 5 years OTR driving experience.
• Must have working knowledge of DOT regulations and audit requirements.
• At least 5 years prior management or supervision experience with strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience at River City Produce or similar in managerial capacity (min 1 year).
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of the regional and metro driver team.
• Assist the shipping manager with metro driver issues and safety concerns.
• Motivate drivers to work in compliance with DOT standards.
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
• Learn and navigate dispatching and ELD software (Forward Thinking).
• Act as backup driver as needed by business demands.
• Coordinate backhauls and inbound freight to the company dock.
• Ensure safety standards per DOT regulations are met by drivers.
• Participate in DOT audits and liaison with DOT authorities.
