GOODWILL OF CENTRAL FLORIDA is seeking a Transportation and Logistics Supervisor to oversee the end-to-end movement of donated goods to stores, DX locations, and hubs.

You will lead scheduling, fleet maintenance, and staff supervision, ensuring DOT, OSHA and CARF compliance while driving cost efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • At least four years of logistics experience and three years in a supervisory role.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License; CDL Class A preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise transportation of donated goods to stores, DX locations and hubs.
  • Monitor and coordinate truck schedules; supervise vehicle and fleet maintenance.
  • Design staffing structure; recruit, supervise and evaluate department staff.
  • Improve operational performance and coordinate cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA and CARF standards.
  • Schedule external donations pickups and manage shipping/receiving activities.
  • Create reports; provide inter-departmental training; manage bids for maintenance.

Job description

SUMMARYSupervise all aspects of the transportation of the donated goods, to and from the various stores, DX locations as well as the Hubs. Major duties include monitoring and coordinating truck schedules, supervise and monitor maintenance of the transportation, fleet and service vehicles, warehouse and salvage equipment, and ensure proper compliance of all Department of Transportation regulations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES1. Maintain records of compliance of all Department of Transportation, OSHA and CARF standards and requirements.2. Monitor and work with Retail Management and staff to improve operational and performance metrics. Provide recommendations and coordinate project implementation for transportation and logistics cost reductions.3. Identify and participate in industry and other professional networks to ensure awareness of social, economic and industry trends that may affect the business or direction of the organizations objectives, policies and programs. 4. Design, establish, and maintain staffing and organizational structure to effectively accomplish the functions of transportation department; recruit, employ, supervise, and evaluate departmental staff. Direct the implementation of management development skills training, and safety training.5. Manage the performance of the transportation employees with emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and delivery service. Responsible for writing all performance evaluations for both CDL and Non CDL driver employees at Hubs.6. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction opportunities.7. Schedule, supervise and coordinate established policy involving handling, shipping and storage of donated goods.8. Schedule and coordinate the pickup and delivery of external donations including but not limited to Hotels, Cruise lines, local businesses etc.9. Monitor established truck schedules to ensure timely and efficient delivery of product and material to designated locations.10. Schedule and monitor all department hours to ensure cost effective operation.11. Manage the safe operation and maintenance of assigned vehicles, warehouse and salvage equipment.12. Assure that good housekeeping, security and safety practices are observed in all related areas.13. Maintain well-groomed appearance and appropriate dress code, including name badge.14. Source products and services to ensure 100% operational capability as well as reduce costs associated with such.ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES1. Create reports as requested by the Director of Logistics and Aftermarket.2. Provide inter-departmental training.3. Procure bids for maintenance, equipment and miscellaneous purchases for the warehouse, salvage, fleet and service vehicles within the transportation arena.4. Perform a minimum of 3 check rides on a monthly basis. Provide feedback of check rides to the direct manager.5. Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIESThe list below is representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability utilized while performing this job.1. Ability to adhere to the organization’s Core Principles.2. Knowledge of Warehouse layout, material handling, transportation scheduling, salvage operations, textiles and hard goods production.3. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to include, Word, Excel, and Outlook.4. Knowledge of production, inventory and quality control and ability to compile and analyze data for reporting systems.5. Knowledge of management and accounting techniques.6. Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and or direction.7. Ability to problem solve department issues and make recommendations for problems and department improvement.8. Maintain a proper and professional attitude when dealing with customers, clients and co-workers.Education and/or Experience:Required: High School education or equivalent.Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in related field. A minimum of four (4) years’ logistics experience and three (3) years’ in a supervisory role. Working experience with people who have disabilities and/or previous Goodwill experience.Math Ability:Level 3: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge and understanding of Global Positioning Satellite (GPS).Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has supervisory responsibilities including supervision of subordinate supervisors.Purchasing Authority:Purchasing Authority Level - Managers/CoordinatorsSPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT(e.g. physical or environmental requirements, irregular work schedule, required license or certification, background check)Physical and Environmental Requirements:1. Regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.2. Vision abilities required by this job include: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.3. Standing and sitting for long periods of time.4. Perform work outside and inside; exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, electricity, noise, fumes and chemicals.5. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud (examples: fork lifts and trash compactors).Language Ability:Level 4: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and public.Reasoning Ability:Level 4: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.License and Certifications:Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record and current private auto insurance policy. Valid CDL- Class A is required and Doubles Endorsement (T) is highly preferred.
