Position Summary:

Manages all aspects of the transportation function in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment, including selection of qualified drivers, routing, driving, safety, unloading, fleet maintenance, customer/driver relationships, and Department of Transportation (DOT) and Operating Company compliance. Includes involvement with the driver selection and orientation process, handling employee relations issues including disciplinary action, monitoring DOT and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) compliance, managing Transportation Supervisors, and monitoring the routing process to ensure customer satisfaction. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities:

• Supervise Transportation Supervisor and/or staff of drivers to ensure safe, efficient, and timely deliveries, maintaining dependability and customer satisfaction. Hire, schedule, train, guide staff, establish standards, and evaluate performance regularly.
• Oversee daily administration of delivery operations, including managing expenses, approving budgets, reviewing driver trip and expense reports, and resolving issues.
• Prepare annual transportation budget, perform cost analyses (e.g., truck leases, fuel), and coordinate financial reporting.
• Collaborate with Warehouse Manager to optimize operational efficiency.
• Schedule truck deliveries and routing daily, including backhauls, and adjust routes to meet customer needs and maximize profitability. Manage equipment scheduling and maintenance, analyze equipment needs, and arrange rentals as needed.
• Ensure DOT compliance, monitor logs, and enforce safety policies.
• Maintain driver information such as licenses, medical certifications, violations, accidents, and safety data.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience, 4-6 years in transportation with knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet management systems, supervisory experience, and a valid driver’s license.
