Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Transportation Manager to oversee and optimize our transportation operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the transportation team, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement transportation strategies to ensure timely delivery of grocery products to customers.
  • Oversee the delivery of products in the most cost-effective manner and achieve precise delivery time goals
  • Manage and supervise the transportation team, including drivers and logistics coordinators.
  • Monitor and optimize transportation costs while maintaining high service levels.
  • Manage transportation budgets, expenses and invoices to ensure proper claim processing and resolution
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency.
  • Coordinate in and outbound freight
  • Assist with scheduling, receipt and delivery of the seasonal promotions business
  • Analyze transportation data and generate reports to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers.
  • Communicate with external carriers to resolve issues
  • Oversee the maintenance and management of the vehicle fleet.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure transportation performance.
  • Analyze report data to measure transportation performance
  • Respond to emergency and changing situations to guarantee deliveries to customers
  • Communicate with divisions and stores to address and resolve transportation issues
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in transportation and logistics management, preferably in the grocery or retail industry.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience within a transportation and logistics environment
  • Expertise in shipping, receiving and inventory management and transportation
  • Experience within a food distribution environment
  • Knowledge/understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Proven ability to meet goals and deadlines
