Join the Texas Department of Transportation as a Transportation Landscape Architect I, II, or III in the Design Division in Austin, TX.

Overview

Develop environmentally sensitive landscape architectural designs, support landscape development of projects, and coordinate with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at each level follow standard practices with varying degrees of independence and leadership responsibilities.

Positions and Responsibilities

Transportation Landscape Architect I: Support landscape design and project establishment following standard practices. No supervisory responsibilities.

Transportation Landscape Architect II: Lead landscape design projects, serve as a lead worker, and establish work priorities.

Transportation Landscape Architect III: Lead complex projects, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, serve as a lead worker, and train others.

Essential Duties

• Attend public forums and make presentations.
• Develop and review plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Review geographic data and coordinate with various agencies.
• Provide technical assistance and represent the Department in meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture.

Experience: Varies by level, from none for Level I to 5 years for Level III.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license, registered Landscape Architect in Texas, Safety Impact Certificate.

Competencies

Includes landscape and vegetation management, laws and regulations, public relations, project design, and planning.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Environmental conditions, outdoor work, and physical stamina required.
