Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design of steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Become familiar with AASHTO LRFD and other standards used in bridge design.
  • Develop plans for bridge components (layouts, substructures, superstructures) typically in Bentley's MicroStation.
  • Visit active bridge construction sites to connect fieldwork with plans.
  • Learn to read and interpret design codes and communicate effectively.

Internship Description
  • Further develop skills learned in the classroom by participating in the design of steel and reinforced concrete structures
  • Become familiar with AASHTO LRFD and other standards used in bridge design
  • Be an active member in developing plans for all components of bridges (layouts, substructures, superstructures), typically in Bentley's MicroStation
  • Visit the site of a bridge being actively constructed to strengthen understanding of what is detailed in plans
  • Successful candidate will be able to read and interpret design codes, communicate effectively, and be willing to learn

Work Environment

This is an in-office position; duties and responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting. Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work-related tasks or to attend meetings may be required.
