Job summary

BKF Engineers is seeking a Civil Infrastructure Engineering Manager in California to lead design for transportation projects, mentor engineers, and help deliver multimodal infrastructure. The role requires a PE license, strong leadership, and a track record in roadway design.

Candidates should have a ABET-accredited civil engineering degree, 6+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project management tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• California PE license preferred; out-of-state PE considered.
• Minimum 6 years of transportation infrastructure design and project delivery experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; experience with project management tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to mentor staff and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design efforts for transportation projects including complete streets, multimodal corridors, bike/pedestrian facilities, transit centers, wildlife crossings, retaining walls, and highway improvements.
• Plan and organize project delivery, delegate tasks, and make final decisions as the professional in responsible charge.
• Ensure compliance with Caltrans, FHWA, CPUC, UPRR, and local agency standards.
• Perform quality control reviews and support QA/QC across projects.
• Mentor engineering staff in roadway design, active transportation, and stormwater integration.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, right-of-way specialists, and permitting agencies to meet complex project requirements.
• Assist with proposal development, including scopes of work, schedules, and fee estimates.
• Support business development and cross-sell BKF services to regional clients.
• Attend project meetings and represent BKF with clients, agencies, and stakeholders.
• Manage sub-consultant coordination and contribute to budget oversight and billing.
