Qualifications

• High school diploma and two years of progressively responsible engineering technician related experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and travel occasionally.
• Experience with field inspections and data entry.
• Knowledge of contract specifications and DOT procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspection duties for varied county contract projects.
• Inspect work to ensure contractor compliance with contract/SCDOT specs.
• Maintain records in daily diary and HMMS Daily Work Reports (DWR).
• Communicate with contractors to schedule work and answer questions.
• Notify contractor of any deficiencies and document them.
• Measure quantities for contract repairs and prepare field reviews.
• Enter data accurately into tracking spreadsheets and HMMS codes.
• Compile inspection data and report deficiencies found.
• Complete DWRs to document all inspection work.
• Assess work requests related to contract repairs; assist in emergencies.
• May require extended hours, night shifts, or 12-hour shifts.
