Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, a 100% employee-owned engineering firm with over 2,400 professionals, seeks a Transportation Technician I in North Carolina to apply inspection procedures and ensure quality and conformance to plans for roadway and bridge projects.

The role involves field work, safety adherence, and compiling daily diaries and records; multiple NC locations are available and relocation can be discussed. A valid driver’s license and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Active driver’s license.
• NCDOT certifications including Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred.
• Construction inspection experience on NCDOT projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of contractor’s operations on transportation projects including roadway and bridge construction to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Performs routine material testing.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Gathers and maintains record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s daily diaries.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
