Job summary

The State of West Virginia's Transportation Building and Grounds Maintenance Worker 1 in Kanawha County will perform varied skilled and semiskilled tasks in building trades related to highways facilities, buildings and grounds. This at-will, exempt position reports to the Office Services Division and requires initiative with limited direction.

Preferred candidates include those with 2 years of relevant maintenance experience; training may include asbestos or environmental work.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in building maintenance, building construction, the installation and maintenance of building electrical or heating systems, or related highway experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled and semiskilled maintenance and repair of highways’ facilities, buildings and grounds.
• Work under limited direction in the building trades; may train in asbestos or other environmental issues as needed.
