Job summary

AECOM is seeking a mid-level Environmental Planner (Transportation focused) to join our California team in a hybrid work model. The role centers on CEQA/NEPA documentation for transportation projects, coordinating with staff and clients, and contributing to project deliverables from Oakland, San Francisco, and other offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, or related field.
• 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education focusing on environmental transportation (CEQA/NEPA).
• A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.
• Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
• 6+ years of relevant experience focusing on environmental documentation project delivery.
• Ability to work independently around technical report writing related to CEQA/NEPA compliance as well as other types of technical reports and regulatory (federal, state, local) permitting documents.
• Experience in supporting public works and transportation projects with local, state and federal funding.
• Experience and/or interest in supporting business development efforts in pursuit of new projects.
• Experienced in environmental studies, CEQA/NEPA documentation, and agency consultations for infrastructure projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to effectively interact with teams of staff, subconsultants, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Key responsibilities include: Support and assist with leading environmental planning work, including the development of environmental documents and studies in compliance with CEQA, NEPA, and other state and federal environmental regulations.
• Analyze and describe environmental impacts of project activities for environmental documents that support CEQA and/or NEPA review.
• Coordinate project tasks among technical staff, subcontractors, and clients.
• Assist with financial and schedule management and reporting on ongoing tasks and projects.
• Assist with quality reviews of colleague and subconsultant deliverables.
• Support the development of work scopes, staffing and cost estimates for tasks under existing and new contracts.
