Job summary

The West Virginia Division of Highways seeks a Transportation Engineer Specialist - Section Manager to lead the Local Program Services Section in the Planning Division. The role oversees CDS/FLAP, TA, RTP, and Agreements/Expenditures, acting as a high-level manager across WVDOH divisions.

Qualified candidates will hold a WV P.E. license or eligible by comity within 6 months, with an ABET-accredited civil engineering degree and at least eight years of progressive civil engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of West Virginia (or licensed in another state with ability to obtain WV P.E. registration by comity within 6 months of hire)
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, engineering technology, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) / Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP), Transportation Alternatives (TA), Recreational Trail Program (RTP), and Agreements / Expenditures units.
• Act as high-level section management and regional management within Central Office divisions within the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH).
• Supervise design, project tracking, and technical review of multi-million-dollar capital improvement programs; supervise consultant engineering contracts and staff up to Engineers 4, EITs, TRETs, and administrative personnel.
