Job summary

The State of West Virginia is seeking a Transportation Engineer 2 to serve as the In-House Squad Leader in the In-House Design Section. The role will oversee projects, coordinate with divisions and consultants, and ensure PS&E packages are prepared for construction.

Knowledge of OpenRoads/OpenBridge Designer is preferred. Qualified candidates will hold a WV PE license (or eligibility by comity within 6 months), a relevant ABET-accredited degree, and at least six years of progressive civil

Qualifications

• Requires PE licensure in WV or ability to obtain by comity within 6 months of hire.
• ABET-accredited B.E./engineering degree required.
• Minimum 6 years of progressive, professional civil engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional engineering as the In-House Squad Leader in the In-House Design Section.
• Develop construction and right-of-way plans in coordination with Divisions, Districts, and consultants.
• Assist with project scoping, peer plan reviews, and PS&E package assembly for construction.
• Supervise Engineers-in-Training, Transportation Engineering Technicians, and other staff.
• Engage in site visit review meetings during project development; knowledge of OpenRoads/OpenBridge Designer preferred.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, engineering technology, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.
