Job summary

West Virginia Division of Highways seeks a Transportation Engineer Specialist to serve as the Statewide Planning Section Head. The role oversees USDOT Grants, MPOs, and Research, and guides high-level engineering decisions and staff supervision across WVDOH divisions in the Central Office.

Ideal candidate has PE licensure in WV (or comity), and an ABET-accredited engineering degree, with eight+ years of progressive civil engineering experience and travel willingness.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of West Virginia or eligible by comity within 6 months of hire.
• Bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, engineering technology, or related field from ABET-accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Oversee units: USDOT Grants, MPOs, and Research within WVDOH Central Office.
• Lead and supervise design, project tracking, and technical review; manage multi-million-dollar capital programs.
• Direct staff and oversee consultant contracts and high-level engineering decisions.
