Job summary

Fehr & Peers in Oakland is seeking a Transportation Engineer or Planner with 2–4 years of experience. You will build on a strong technical foundation and begin to take on greater ownership, leading tasks and mentoring others.

You will work on a wide range of planning and engineering projects, develop your technical expertise, manage projects, support clients, and grow into a strong project manager within a collaborative culture that values mentorship and initiative.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in transportation planning or engineering.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related field.
• EIT certification preferred; progress toward professional licensure encouraged.
• Open to exploring new technologies and tools while maintaining judgment.

Responsibilities

• Lead tasks and manage projects, including coordinating scope, schedule, and budget.
• Apply standard and intermediate analytical techniques independently with guidance.
• Contribute to project approaches, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Prepare clear, well-organized technical reports, memos, and presentations.
• Participate in and lead client meetings and support relationship development.
• Mentor entry-level staff and interns, including delegating and reviewing work.
• Assist with proposals and business development initiatives.
• Balance multiple assignments while managing your own workload.
