Job summary

Actalent, a leading engineering services firm, seeks a Transportation Engineer in Chicago to support design and construction of roads, bridges, and water systems. The role emphasizes roadway design, complex problem solving, and collaboration with state DOTs and municipalities.

The successful candidate will prepare detailed designs using MicroStation and Geopak, travel to local job sites for oversight, and work within a warm, mentorship-driven culture that supports professional licensure progress.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering (required).
• Current EIT or PE license.
• At least 3 years of transportation project experience.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and/or Geopak for roadway design.
• Experience with state DOTs, tollway authorities, or municipalities.
• Strong collaboration and communication when working with clients.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and develop engineering activities for construction and maintenance of transportation facilities.
• Perform design engineering for transportation projects.
• Prepare detailed designs using MicroStation and Geopak.
• Develop innovative approaches to complex problems.
• Create drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs to support design.
• Monitor compliance with codes and standards; review progress on-site as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality transportation solutions.
• Communicate with clients about project requirements and status.
