Job summary

HDR in Vienna, VA is seeking a Transportation Engineer (Highway/Roadway) to join our Transportation Business Group. You will contribute to designing resilient highways, bridges, and rail corridors that improve safety, mobility, and community impact for a diverse set of clients.

As a key member of the design team, you’ll prepare roadway plans, manage scopes and schedules, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with subconsultants while delivering high‑quality solutions that align with HDR’s

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and PE license; 5+ years in roadway engineering design.
• Experience with urban and rural highway interchanges, traffic management, and roadway geometry.
• Experience with OpenRoads 3D Corridor Modeling preferred; strong CAD tool proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead highway/roadway design on moderate to large projects.
• Prepare alignment, intersection, drainage, and right-of-way plans.
• Oversee contract plans, specs, and estimates for roadways.
• Manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules; coordinate with subconsultants.
• Mentor junior engineers and staff; maintain client relations.
